The Journey Starts Now

Welcome. The opening of this blog is part transparency, part therapy, and part of building a professional learning network. After 10 years as an assistant principal, my role move to that of middle school principal starting July 1. I will be serving the teachers, parents, and students of Maplewood Richmond Heights Middle School in St. Louis. I have known that this would be my role since April of 2009, but due to a contract situation, my official journey was put on hold. This hasn't been wasting time though as I have spent much of this year learning, learning what was really important to me, and trying to foster relationships with my new staff. I'm always looking for ideas, resources, and new ways of thinking, and I hope to gather some steam from other professions reading, commenting, and sharing with me.

Monday is Day 1.

  1. You are already off to a great start in that you are willing to be transparent and reflective. In today's climate, it's brave to do so. I was touched by your statement..."here to serve teachers..." If only every principal valued teachers in that way, we could accomplish so much.
